I'm the editor for TV site, TV Scoop as well writing for the ace TVThrong. I'm also the editor for Electric Roulette which is the sharpest, funniest music site on the web.
I also contribute to The Quietus (dynamtie rock 'n' roll), Bitterwallet ("the best source for consumer hacks, tips & news from the trenches of the UK community") and celebrity blog StarTrip.
As a freelance, I've had work in Mojo, The Guardian Guide, The Daily Mail, Hecklerspray, BBC Good Food Guide, Total Film, t3, the Green Man Festival programme and fanzines, and loads of Shiny Media websites over the years. I've also done PR work, most notably helping ITV with the online promotion of Demons, as well as creating the press release for the Beepfest festival.
I've also been lucky enough to feature in some 'thanks' bits of some LPs.
I've also featured on the television, conducting interviews for Sky Arts show, From The Basement, where I interviewed some very famous people, including, as the picture above testifies, Iggy Pop. Hopefully, I'll be returning for the next series too. I've also done various radio spots as a TV writer for the BBC and some Manchester radio stations.
One of the nice things that's happened is that I've given the name to a minor genre of music. In 2005 I coined the term 'pop-noir' which really doesn't mean much, but kinda sat well with the music Candie Payne was making. It has since been used by loads of brooding sixties-esque bands, including The Last Shadow Puppets, Martina Topley Bird and some American singer who couldn't be further away from the 'noir' I was getting at. Candie Payne mentions it here, and I am that 'someone'.
Here are some recommendations from other people
“Mof is one of those rare freelancers who's able to whip out copy in next to no time, tailored perfectly to what you want. Quite often he knows what you're after more than you know yourself, and is able to flex his writing styles to give you any tone or voice most suitable. I highly recommend him for any writing job that needs doing.” Kat Hannaford, Future Publishing
“Mof Gimmers, to this date, is one of the best and most prolific writers Hecklerspray has ever seen. His work is intelligent, thought-provoking and, most of all, funny. He also has an almost illegally good taste in music.” Stuart Heritage, Editor, Hecklerspray
“Whilst writing for Shiny Media, I read Mof's work on a variety of the Shiny sites regularly, and the stuff he wrote regularly made me laugh. I think that's about the highest endorsement you can give a writer. Also, he's a thoroughly nice chap.” Susi Weaser, Former Editor at Shiny Media
